A Naming ceremony is an excellent occasion for the celebration of new life the hope and joy and the commitment to support and guide.

I can create a naming ceremony that involves family and friends, and uniting the family in celebrating the birth, offering support and hope for the future of the life of the child.

I can create this ceremony in your home, garden, venue of your choice. You can include readings, prayers, poems that can be read by myself, your family or friends. I also offer the opportunity to celebrate using the Unity Candles or handfasting techniques. I aim to craft a ceremony that meets your beliefs, dreams for your child and a day that you will treasure in your memory.

The naming ceremony has no legal status so your baby’s birth must still be registered at a local registry office within the legal time frame.

Testimonials

Little touches

Sue, we cannot thank you for the naming ceremony you did for Samuel today. My friends and family loved the little touches with the handfasting and the use of the Unity candle. My parents who are set in their ways also found the experience wonderful and enjoyed being involved in the ceremony. I am sure you will be doing many more ceremonies as friends took your details.

Best wishes Helen & Richard.

Left with wonderful memories

Your sense of humour was wonderful at the naming of baby Felicity. Her smile at the fun comments you made about her birth and her delivery in the back of the car had everyone laughing and she laughed to. We loved the uniting us as a family and Harry who is from Ben’s first marriage felt so involved and grown up being the big brother. I loved the way you involved him getting him to light a candle. Your warmth and love for families shone through and you have left us with such wonderful memories.

Regards Best wishes for the future, you truly are a wonderful celebrant.

Ben & Sally.

Such a Success

Sue what a ceremony you initiated for the naming of Megan. We loved the way you involved all the godparents and the use of the handfasting and getting us all to be involved was wonderful. The day was such a success and your words of love and support and thoughts of the future for Megan will help us as she grows and offer her support and wisdom. I am sure my friends will all be in touch with you.

Love Christina, Michael, Megan.

A naming ceremony is a great alternative to christenings. The ceremony can be fun and can if you wish include a mixture of faith elements.

A naming ceremony does not just have to be for babies, they can be to celebrate adoption.

Naming ceremonies can include the use of symbolic elements such as lighting candles, handfasting and the writing of special messages from all attending placed in a treasure box to be opened on your child’s 18th or 21st Birthday.

The Process

1. We chat on the phone or video call

To discuss what you are looking for from your ceremony and so that I can answer any questions you may have.

2. We meet up

This meeting will give you the opportunity to input to your ceremony script by giving me the background information I need to really personalise your ceremony.

3. I research, develop and write your ceremony script

Your script will tell your story and be tailored to reflect your personalities, faith views and values. You will be given the opportunity to amend your script before the big day.

…and then of course I will conduct your personalised naming ceremony.

Throughout the whole process I will be on hand to answer your questions by phone or email, offer advice and ideas or just a listening ear!

Fees

£100 deposit will be payable for your ceremony once you have agreed to go ahead. This is non-refundable. The remaining will be payable four weeks prior to the ceremony on receipt of invoice.
